List of Blood Pressure Medications
"Real" drugs used in the treatment of Hypertension: Notes on the various types of blood pressure medications: q Diuretics act on the kidneys to get rid of salt and on the blood vessels to reduce resistance. q Beta-blockers lower blood pressure by slowing the heart and decreasing the force of cardiac contractions. q Vasodilators act on the arteries to widen them. q ACE inhibitors act as both vasodilators and diuretics by inhibiting the production of angiotensin, a powerful vasoconstictor hormone which also acts on the adrenal glands to keep more sodium in the body.
