Plants Grown at
Elk Meadow Farm & Nursery:
(This is our "Test Plot" year. We'll narrow it down once we find
out what grows well here. This is not a complete list but it's a good start.
We'll find time to put up a farm website one of these months!
Oh, and here's a picture of our latest creation--we're excited!

6/10/10Tess the cat
follows us wherever we go. At least she's careful about no squashing the
plants! She loves to spend the entire day in the hoop house. The animals
pretty much stay on the paths and don't step on the plants which is
good. Maggie tried to nudge her from her bed here, but she wasn't having
it and just resettled.
The Okra plants are the biggest ones on the left. We've
stacked plant starts in between
the raised beds on the right and on top of the straw bale
edge. Michael's been potting up
the tomatoes into gallon pots. We sold 3 that way last
Tuesday at the Co-op Market.
The raised beds are alternating with flowers and veggies
or fruits (watermelon). Scarlet runner
beans are growing up the trellis in the back down by me.
It will be stuffed to the gills by the end of July
but who cares. Great energy in there.

We LOVE our straw bale beds! Check out the giant mustard
plants on the right.
Getting ready for market. Below are the trays we keep
ready to load (complete with bench cards) and the herbs in pots are my
latest invention. We're going to laminate and attach the recipe for
chicken soup to the pot for use as a houseplant.
We've got 60 Batik irises just about ready to bloom for
boquets. The strawbale bed in the back is filled with winter greens and
garlic.
That's the update from our house. Enjoy spring.
