Formication and Splenda

Formication and Splenda: Formication (also known as speed bumps, meth sores, crank bugs) is a common symptom in diseases of the spinal cord and peripheral nerves involving the illusion or hallucination (also called delusions of parasitosis –DP for short) that ants, snakes or other insects are creeping on or under the skin causing itching. Formication is associated with psychotic states, drug and alcohol abuse (crystal meth, cocaine, amphetamines, heroine, alcohol), certain prescription medication (Ritalin, Adderall and Lunesta), menopause, allergies, diabetic neuropathy, skin cancer and with herpes zoster (shingles).

Making Nutrition Work

These are notes I took from a lecture called Making Nutrition Work: I learned a lot. I hope you do to. Ascorbic Acid is the outer coat of the vitamin c molecule and is synthetically made by combining corn syrup with sulfuric acid. Hybrid plants have less nutritional value. Iron Supplements: Ferrous Fulmerate (the kind of iron pill prescribed by many doctors) is made of coal tar. With good quality iron supplements, the stools should not get black. Ferrofood, Floridix, and blackstrap molasses are all better sources of iron, but you still have to get those stomach acids back (Betaine HCl is used for this.) Prilosec shreds the lining of the stomach and inactivates stomach acids necessary to digest protein eventually causing more harm than healing. Tums takes away the digestive function. Butter eaters have better pain tolerance than margarine eaters.

NHT News. Vol. 4 No. 2 Mar 2008

I’ve been hearing a lot about formication lately. In the last month I’ve had four people call with this symptom. These are desperate people who just spill out their story because they can’t find anyone to listen to them. They have gone from one doctor to another and are given prescriptions for antidepressants, antipsychotic medications, referred to psychotherapists and sometimes even put into mental institutions. Serious business. The medical field is labeling this Morgellon’s Disease.

Sucralose is used as a replacement for, or in combination with, other artificial or natural sweeteners like Nutrasweet and Acesufame. People that react to Splenda may also react to chlorine. For side effects possibly related to ingesting Splenda, see my Splenda handout.
