Are Water Filters Necessary?

Up until recently, we could get by with only a good carbon water filter, but not any longer. With relatively few exceptions, America’s tap water is contaminated with one or more of the following:

  • Chlorination by-products
  • Bacteria
  • Parasites
  • Heavy metals
  • Organic chemicals and
  • Other potentially harmful contaminants

Types of water filters include:

  • Carbon
  • Reverse osmosis
  • Ion exchange
  • Distillation
  • Ultraviolet

Studies also show that bottled water isn’t any purer or safer than tap water, and it certainly costs more. Many quality home water purification products are convenient and provide water far superior to bottled water and at a fraction of the cost.

In America we use more than 75,000 toxic chemicals every day and new ones are being developed every year. We are learning the hard way that many of the chemicals we use ultimately appear in the water we drink. Through the natural processes of the hydrologic cycle Mother Earth recycles the same water over and over. She does not create “new” water. As we use more chemicals, the levels of those chemicals in our water supply increases proportionately.

Contrary to popular belief, our water treatment facilities were not designed to “purify” our water. In reality, the best they can do is control and reduce contaminants. Municipal water treatment today is essentially the same as it has been for more than 100 years. Water is treated (most often filtered) to remove the larger particles (sediment) and then chlorine is added to kill many of the bacteria. Most municipal treatment systems do NOT remove man-made chemicals!

Prior to the 1950’s, before all of these chemicals were present in our environment, 1 out of 50 Americans would get cancer in their lives. Today:

  • 1 in 3 Americans will contract cancer in one form or another.
  • 1 of every 2 American males will succumb to cancer.
  • 1 of every 8 women will contract breast cancer.
  • Childhood cancers have increased 300% in just the last 20 years—much of this can be directly or indirectly, associated with the accumulation of man-made chemicals in our body.

Cancer is a man-made disease and for the most part; preventable.

Our intake of safe, clean water is one of the most critical factors in the prevention of cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Our body needs water to detoxify itself. When our drinking water contains chemical contaminants, our body is not able to use the water to its full benefit.

When the risk is so great and the solution is so simple, why chance it? In-home water purification is the most effective, by far the most convenient and most economical means of providing safe, clean, great tasting water for you and your family.
