Lick Granuloma in Dogs

Lick granuloma is seen mainly in older often obese dogs. It shows up on the front legs as a thickening of the skin in that area with some hair loss caused by chewing and licking incessantly at the area. The skin turns reddish and the hair becomes stained as the chomophores in the dog saliva connect with the sunshine. Continual licking leads to ulceration.

Lick Granuloma or Acral Lick Dermatitis is a real challenge for us in the veterinary world

. . .at least it was for me until I entered the Alternative Medicine world and found the core cause of this problem.

Lick granuloma or acral lick dermatitis

I used to just hate these cases. Anything I did including steroid injections into the area, topical steroids, Panalog, DMSO drops, antibiotic drops, bandaging and putting the dog into an Elizabethan collar just didn’t seem to work for long. It seemed like every vet I ever worked for or talked to had their own “secret” treatment for treating lick granuloma.

Now why was that? Was there a foreign body in there that I couldn’t see? Usually not. Did the dog scratch itself there and now it had a bacterial infection? Then why didn’t the antibiotic drops not work?

Well, I think lick granuloma is caused by a mild subluxation of the wrist joint. I was only treating the symptom (a red sore that wouldn’t go away.) Then I took a veterinary Contact Reflex Analysis course with Dr. Ron Carston back in the early 1990s. He showed me the trick to correcting these tough cases. Now I’m showing you.

Let me show you how to fix lick granuloma without spending hundreds of dollars and wasting lots of time. . .
