Transform Your Life

Transform Your Life. . .Start Today!

It’s been said that people change for two reasons–because they seek gratification or because they are in some kind of pain. Well, one day, in about 1995 I woke up and said, “Darn…I’m still here.” Gosh, that was a LONG time ago. I was discouraged that God would not take me out just because I asked him to, so I decided to make some proactive changes in my life. I decided to transform my life right then and there. First, I asked for God’s help. I started making small changes and kept adding onto them year after year. And that has made all the difference. It has been a wonderful journey and a total transformation on my part. I now love my life and am making a difference in other people’s lives on a daily basis. You can too. Just focus your intention and start today.

It’s easy to transform your life if you just pick one or two items from the list below and make a personal commitment to yourself to do them for a specific amount of time.

18 Tips on How to Transform Your Life

Transform Your Life: Write out a personal prayer to God. Include what you want your life to be like, how you want people to treat you, how you want your relationships to be, and what you want involving your business or career. One fantastic resource for this transformation tip is Mary Manin Morrissey’s book, Building Your Field of Dreams .

Transform Your Life: Make a mission statement for yourself. Mine took two years to complete. When I found a trait I liked, I jotted it down and added it to a “Mission Statement” file. I also added to the file those things that I believed and that I would passionately live for or die for. One day, I took the folder to a sacred place and set aside several hours to pray, meditate, and sort all the pieces of paper. I rearranged them until I found something I was satisfied with. I’ve modified it slightly as I get more clarity, but these are the things I live for. I strive to “walk my talk”. I’ve set up a circle of supportive people who will hold me accountable to these beliefs and they whip me into shape when I get out of line. Click here to see my Mission Statement.

Transform Your Life: Write out your goals for personal development, material things you want and for economic goals for what you want to accomplish in the next 1-5 years, 10 years and 20- year periods. Review them weekly to stay focused. Ask yourself, “If nothing were holding me back from completing my goals, what would be one step today I could do to take me farther along that path towards them?”

Transform Your Life: Replace every negative thought with a short positive affirmation. For example, “I AM peace, unconditional love and prosperity.” or “I am the changes I want to see.” or “God works in me, as me and through me.” Have someone review your affirmation to make sure it is as positive as it can be.

Transform Your Life: Ask God for a personal sign symbolizing something you really want. My personal symbol for financial abundance is a feather. When I see a feather it’s like God speaking to me that day, reminding me that my needs are already met. And it instills me with a peaceful and blessed feeling. Feathers remind me that all I need to do is to have faith and remove all roadblocks to God’s presence. Some days I just ask for a sign that I am on the right track in doing what Spirit wants me to do for the world. That has never failed. I always get a sign. You will to if you keep aware of the things that are happening around you. Don’t discount God’s signs to you as “coincidence”.  My favorite resource to learn more about this is the book, Learn To See by Mary Jo McCabe.

Transform Your Life: Start a support group with winners…People you want to spend positive time with; People who you can be accountable to in fulfilling your goals towards transformation. People who will ask big questions of you like, “So, what’s holding you back?” and “What are you doing to work through that?” and “How do you see yourself taking the next step forward towards your goals?” Review the Master Mind Groups handout.

Transform Your Life: Clarify and refine what you really, really want. I’ve had many plans that never came to be because what I thought I wanted was really a means to an end– not what I really wanted. I didn’t ask for what I really wanted, because I thought I could never get it.  (see Getting Clarity)

I’ve done a lot of personal work since then and now choose goals, dreams, and visions that are in total alignment with my God Path and my moving towards values here on earth. These goals are energizing, exciting and keep me moving. When I mess up sometimes and volunteer or sign up for something that turns out to be out of alignment with forward progress towards my goals, I get out of it as quickly as possible and leave a door open for something that IS in alignment with what energizes me.

At first I felt guilty and stuck about these things, but I’m learning to let that go because negative emotions bring you down and make you sick. Doing things you don’t enjoy doing only takes the chore away from someone who would enjoy it and it keeps you from giving your true gift to the world. I’m also learning to say “No” or “I’ll think about it and get back to you”. I’m learning tact and saying, “I’m so honored that you thought of me, but I couldn’t possibly fit that into my schedule and give it the attention that it deserves right now.”

Transform Your Life: Minimize the time you spend with negative people. This can be challenging as sometimes it involves your own family! Set a timer if you have to, make excuses, but remove yourself from toxic attitudes so you can heal your own. If you haven’t yet developed good boundaries I’d recommend the book, Boundaries–Where you End and I Begin by Anne Katherine. I’ve done a book summary of the book which you can read here: /boundaries.htm

Transform Your Life: Perform Random Acts of Kindness on a daily basis. Start waves of kindness. Pay it Forward.

Transform Your Life: Write one thank-you-note a day. People love to be recognized and it keeps you focusing on what is going right in your life.

Transform Your Life: Take a chance. Walk into your biggest fear and take that first positive step to conquering it. Know there are guides and angels to protect and guide you. Be open to their guidance. Ask for help and support. Sometimes you just have to take the leap of faith and build your wings on the way down.

Transform Your Life: Start the forgiveness process for yourself and for others. Sometimes forgiving yourself is the biggest hurdle you will have to get over. You know now that if you could have done better in the past, you would have. Stop those old movies. Scratch those old records. Let it go. Today is a new day and you can make new choices. Repair what you can, be kind to yourself and move on.

As for the process of forgiving others, it sometimes helps to start with, “Lord, if a Mack truck doesn’t kill my ex husband on the road today, (or something to that effect) then….I wish him happiness, unlimited wealth, great relationships and all the good he could ever dream possible.” By the end of a couple weeks you may feel comfortable dropping the first sentence. Hey, it’s a process and it works.

Transform Your Life: Love yourself. Look into the mirror on a daily basis and say to yourself, “I love you. What can I do to make YOU happy today?” Then DO what that little voice says. You have lots of people pulling for you on this side and beyond the veil. Once you take time to listen to your God Voice, you will hear it often. How do you differentiate your God Voice from ego? Try this…start playing a negative movie of yourself in your mind. Got it? Now feel the energy. Where does that negative “ego” talk center in your body? That is EGO (Edging God Out). Now, play a good tape in your mind of something you excelled at, a time when you listened to your “gut” instinct. That gut instinct is your God Voice. Where do you feel that energy in your body? It will be different for everybody. I feel my ego talking to me down the center of my body. My God Voice comes into my right ear. Now, when you can differentiate between the two and ask for guidance, but feel your ego respond–Thank your ego and wait to hear the answer where your God Voice talks to you.

Transform Your Life: Clean up your life. Finish it or chuck it. Clean one room/day in your house. Give away or yard sale items you have not used in over a year. Repeat the cleaning process again in two weeks and redistribute more items. Now stand back and ask, “Could I take a picture of this room as it is and submit it to House Beautiful magazine? If the answer is no, you’ve got more work to do.

Transform Your Life: Do you save magazines? Time to get rid of them, but before you do, flip through and cut out anything you would like to manifest in your life, then make a mural out of them. Laminate the mural and post it over your bed or somewhere you will be able to look at it for at least a few minutes a day. This is powerful and it works.

Transform Your Life: Complete or resolve promises to yourself and others. It is such an energy drainer to know you have promised to do something that you know you will never complete. Every time you see the project or the person it throws you into a guilt trip mode. This suppresses your immune system. So, free up your life and talk to those people who you have made empty promises to. Tell them you know you have made a promise, but don’t feel you have time to complete it and that you are sorry OR commit to a time when you will finish what you promised.

Transform Your Life: Make a daily practice of focusing on the positive. Start an abundance journal. Focus on one area of your life you would like to change. Write down three new things per day you are grateful for in that one particular area. If the area you have chosen is your relationship with your partner, take a chance and discuss what you have written with them. See the Law of Attraction for more suggestions on this.

Transform Your Life: Commit to your relationships. Be a human Being, not a human doing. Keeping busy is a way of not working on relationships and relationships are why we are in human form. This can be the most fulfilling of all. Call or write to someone you would like to have a better relationship with once a month for 12 months with no emotional attachment to the outcome and see what happens by the end of those 12 months. If you haven’t made progress by then, bless them and set them free from your life and move on.

Do you really know what is important in your spouse’s eyes? Do you inadvertently push their buttons? Do the Relationship exercise together. It’s a real eye opener.

Transform Your Life: Spend more quiet time with yourself. Do what brings you happiness, joy and energy at least 15 minutes per day. This is called your Life Purpose or God Path and will recharge your batteries so that you can give to others. Do you know how very special you really are? You will if you sign up for the daily inspirations at www.tut.com .

“On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know. . .The only really profitable question is, “What?” As in,” What do I choose now?” This question empowers. The “why” question simply perplexes, and rarely satisfies even when it gets a good answer. So don’t try to “figure it out.” Stop it. Just focus on what you now wish to create. Keep moving forward. There’s nothing behind you that can possibly serve you better than your highest thoughts about tomorrow.” Neale Donald Walsch  www.NealeDonaldWalsch.com
