A woman in her 80’s gets her hair done once a week. That is the only time she gets her hair and scalp washed. She has done this for years and wonders why she has sheets of dry skin which flake off in big chunks. She goes to her doctor who prescribes a salve to rub on her head to slow down the growth of cells which prevents the skin that’s on her head from drying up and flaking off making an even bigger mess than before. This is an extreme case, but it is more common than you think. The skin turnover rate is about every 10 days. Now, that means that a new healthy cell is born, matures, ages and dies all in a ten-day period. Air flow, body heat, sunshine, brushing, rubbing, scratching and bathing help to disperse these dead cells freeing up the skin for more to come off. When one doesn’t mechanically wash/scrub off dead skin cells, they pile up like a log jam on the scalp (and other areas of the body) causing dandruff, psoriasis, and eczema.

Woman didn’t know she was 9 months pregnant. Bellevue—Amanda Brisendine attributed the 30 pounds she gained in the past year to an abandoned smoking habit and rich food. So when she went to the hospital with sharp stomach pain, she wasn’t expecting to leave with a newborn son.

I recommend the movie First Do No Harm for anyone with epilepsy or knowing anyone with the epilepsy (human or animals) because adding specific fats to the diet can control and/or greatly reduce the incidence of seizures.

Now, for the hair loss. I test that 70% of your hair loss is dietary, but only 30% is due to the fats that you are ingesting. Stress causes the hormones to be all whacked out, so you can loose hair because of that. Adrenaline in your body constricts the blood flow to the hair follicles (therefore lower amounts of nutrition are available to feed the developing hair). One exercise you can do often during the day is to say, “Scalp relax” and then note the amount of tension you are holding in your scalp.

Could it be that we all fit neatly into one of 37 major groupings? I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve added the numbers of someone’s birth date up and shared their “not so personal” pathway with them and it was right on target.
