I often have to re-educate my clients on this category. Most of my clients don’t know that they should also drink some juice or beverage in addition to water. This is because the juice or beverage takes longer to digest, stays in your system a bit longer and then entices toxins to follow them out as the urinary system processes it. Now, if you just drink water, the kidneys get overworked as the water shoots right on through. Then the person has to hand around the bathroom all day or has to get up several times a night. So, that’s why it’s good to have a balance.

Then again, juices have lots more calories and sugar—no worries. . .you can dilute them and still get the affect we need. Also, juices and sodas have an electrical charge to them so it’s good to use these items when taking your supplements. That way they won’t stick in your throat. (Of course if all your supplements need to be gagged down you’re taking the wrong ones!)

Fresh squeezed juice helps with detoxification because even though you squeeze out sour juice, as it goes through your body it comes out as alkaline ash. This is not what happens when you drink juice where it has been processes (canned, frozen, or pasteurized). These juices (especially fruit juices) make the body more acid. Also, those with any kind of sugar besides fructose make the body acid.

Often clients will tell me they have a hard time getting in the volumes of fresh fruit they need. I tell them to add the juice of something raw to their water. One lemon or lime equals one serving of fruit. Canned, frozen or processed juice does not count as a raw fruit serving but vegetable juices can count as a cooked vegetable.
