Ginger Health Benefits: I often recommend ginger for car sickness in pets and people. The dose is 1-2 capsules 20 minutes before the car ride—hopefully on an empty stomach. It also helps with clearing gas and in promoting menstrual regularity and occasionally it is effective for relief of menstrual cramping (although I have never experienced relief from my own cramps with ginger!). Ginger can also be used for morning sickness.

Parsley is effective for nearly all kidney and urinary complaints except severe kidney inflammation. It improves kidney activity and can help eliminate wastes from the blood and tissues of the kidneys. It prevents salt from being reabsorbed into the body tissues; thus parsley literally forces debris out of the kidneys, liver and bladder. It helps improve edema and general water retention, fatigue and scanty or painful urination.

Ginger Snaps: This is our favorite ginger snap recipe. Blackstrap molasses is good for anemia (natural iron source). It’s also low in fat because the Lighter Bake takes the place of the butter. If you like them extra crispy though you’ll probably have to put the baked cookies in a dehydrator for a couple of hours.

Cranberries fermented in honey is a recipe I grabbed then modified off the internet in 2019 when we spent a year experimenting with fermented foods high in natural pre and probiotics. We were specifically searching for some recipes we could add to our diets on a regular basis that were appropriate for our blood type (not sauerkraut). This one is appropriate for all blood types but not a recipe to use if you have any issues with Gout. We loved it so much that this year we made several batches.
